St. George Greek Orthodox Church has celebrated its annual Greek Fest since 1977! Originally, the Knoxville Greek Fest was organized to introduce Greek food, culture, and dance to the local community. Greek Fest is one of the most popular events in Knoxville, attracting over 20,000 visitors over the weekend.
The festival features a variety of traditional dishes, dances, music, and more! In addition, St. George’s award winning Greek dancers train and compete annually in competitions around the country. There is also an introductory church tour for those wishing to learn more about the Greek Orthodox history and faith.
We take this opportunity to thank you for being a patron of the Greek Fest, enjoying our culture, and helping us do more for our community needs. And as we say in Greek “OPA”! A celebration cheer of joy!

Our Cause
The mission of our annual Greek Fest is to reach out into the environs surrounding our Church in order to enhance our stewardship by opening our doors to our neighbors and welcoming all members of our greater Knoxville and East Tennessee community and beyond, sharing our Hellenic heritage and exercising our Orthodox Christian faith.
Our Charities
Theotokos Fund:
Our community’s philanthropic efforts since the 1930’s have been to provide increased assistance to the needy and to charitable agencies within the immediate East Tennessee area. Local organizations have also appealed and we have answered the call including helping to start Knoxville’s Interfaith Health Clinic in its early years to the various appeals we receive today within East Tennessee, or simply to the hungry or poor that knock on our door.
With the success of our Greek Festival starting in the 1980’s, those funds have become even more significant thanks to the many generous donors of the festival. We are pleased to have had such significant festival support that it has enabled us to additionally help Habitat for Humanity with several homes.
We continually strive to serve “the least of our brethren” and with your help, we can continue to do so.
